Its vs It’s

Its este forma posesivă.
- Its color is red.

It’s este forma scurtă a lui it is şi este dese ori folosită în vorbirea orală şi în scris.
- It’s time to go. = It is time to go.

Borrow vs Lend

Borrow este folosit când cineva împrumută bani DE LA cineva care le va întoarce în viitor.
- Can I borrow $5 dollars for lunch?

Lend este folosit când cineva împrumută bani CUIVA care le va întoarce în viitor.
- I can lend you $5 for lunch. You can pay me back next week.

Have been vs Have gone

Have been este folosit când cineva S-A ÎNTORS de undeva.
- Have you been to the bank? (I’m asking a person who is now in the room with me!)

Have gone este folosit când cineva A PLECAT undeva.
- Has Tom gone to the bank? I can’t find him anywhere!

Bring vs Take

Eu aduc (bring) ceva AICI.
- I brought my books with me to class today.

Eu duc (take) ceva ACOLO.
- I took an extra jacket with me on the hike in case it rained.

NOTĂ:
- bring: a aduce ceva de acolo, aici
- take: a duce ceva de aici, acolo

Good vs Well

Good este un adjectiv care descrie calitatea cuiva sau ceva.
El este deasemenea folosit înaintea unui substantiv.
- He is a good tennis player.
- The coffee is good.

Well este un adverb şi descrie CUM cineva face ceva.
- He plays golf well.
- She speaks French well.

Exercise
Completaţi spaţiile libere cu unul din zece cuvinte explicate mai sus. Fiecare cuvânt este folosit o dată.
